Each morning I wake in hopes of progress
Packed sinuses and pointed headaches are what I get
Heat radiates across my scalp like a doppler radar SNEEZE!
Warmer I felt as the night went on
Warmer as the hairs on my head seemed to take life of their own.
Warmer I tossed and turned, seeking a cool breeze.
Warmer I got, though all I wanted was to be cold.
Tissues spread like propaganda across my wood grain floors.
Almost like snot-covered snowflakes in early spring.
SNEEZE! snort, blow, the warm ooze runs over my upper lip.
It seems to be coating everything I come into contact with.
It seems to look up at me and smile, hiding in plain sight under drooping eyelids.
It mocks me as I wipe it from my keyboard. SNEEZE!
It coats my left sleeve and SNEEZE! Again
It belly laughs
I was becoming so warm I thought I would melt like ice cream
I was becoming so warm I thought I harnessed the sun in my body
I was becoming so warm I swore SNEEZE! I was a radioactive isotope
I was becoming so warm I dreamt Malcolm X and Elijah Mohammad were growing out of my scalp
I was becoming so warm I thought the CIA was coming to chop these men off my head like broccoli crowns SNEEZE!
It belly laughs.
In the mornings I:
drank tea and napped
drank Nyquil and napped
drank orange juice and thought about napping but was too warm to go under the covers.
It looks up and laughs again.
This winter has gone on too long.
I am sick of being cold.
I am ready to be warm again.
