Shade them from the grating wind,
The thundering of collapsing trees
Warm them with a loving embrace,
Newborn snow on the tip of their tongue
Cheer for them as they gasp for air;
Embarrass them with your praise
Follow them as they carve their path
Through thick thorns and mad puddles
Hold them when the earth shudders
And the stars fall from the sky
Tell them the stories you weren’t told
Of how to pick stars up and mend them
Steady them as they tremble in awe,
Their hands uniting with an unknown sky
Try and fail
& try again
