“Let’s play two truths and a lie.”
“Excuse me?”
“Let’s play two truths and a lie!”
“Do I know you?”
“No, but you will if you play two truths and a lie with me.”
“Why?”
“So I can get to know you.”
“Okay, I guess. My name’s Cat.”
“Is that one of your two truths?”
“No, I just felt like it was an important thing for you to know.”
“Oh. Well, in that case, I’m Sam.”
“Got it. Um, who’s going first?”
“I suppose I will, since I initiated. Let’s see…I play soccer and have played for 12 years, I…know how to do a minimal number of tricks on a yoyo, and I don’t like ice cream because I hate cold things.”
“You hesitated on number two. I’m tempted to guess that you don’t know how to do yoyo tricks, then, unless you’re playing mind games with me.”
“Who knows? I could be a tricky person like that.”
“Can I ask some questions to help me make an educated guess?”
“Sure. I’ll give you three questions, but they can’t be related to the statements I gave.”
“Okay. How old are you?”
“I’m 20.”
“What’s your favorite season?”
“Spring.”
“What’s your opinion on tortilla chips?”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“I was just curious.”
“Well, it counts as your third question. And I’m generally a fan of tortilla chips, especially the blue corn ones.”
“You’re not making this easy for me.”
“You’re allowed to make a wrong guess, you know.”
“Well, sure, but that defeats the point of the game.”
“Time’s ticking. 20 seconds left to guess.”
“Says who? We’re at a party. I have nowhere to be until around 2:00 a.m.”
“Says my impatience meter. I hate cold things and waiting.”
“Sure. Fine. Um, I think you’ve never touched a yoyo in your life and you’re still not sure what one is. How did I do?”
“I have to go, so I guess you’ll never know.”
“Wh-”
“Bye, Cat!”
“Goodbye, Sam.”
