Lea Teschl, Graphics Editor, ’27: Tacos CDMX
“My favorite quick bite in Ithaca is Tacos CDMX, located in Press Bay Alley. Their delicious tacos are five dollars each and the friendly workers always have them cooked in no time!”
Zadie Wang, Editor-in-Chief, ’26: The Lotus
“I wouldn’t say it’s a go-to place yet, but I tried The Lotus recently and absolutely fell in love with their take on Korean and Korean-American fusion dishes. As you can tell by the photo, their fries are huge (and super yummy).”
Julia Kleinberg, Literary Editor, ’27: Viva Taqueria & Cantina
“My favorite dish there is the Super Burrito, probably because I’ve been eating it for as long as I can remember eating at restaurants.”
Taran Knutson, Former Copy Editor, ’25: Franco’s Pizzeria
“Franco’s Pizzeria for sure. The vegetable slices are my personal heaven, complete with an unbeatable crust…mmm…”
Susanne Guimbretiere, Layout Editor, ’28: Ithaca Bakery
“I’m a huge fan of quick lunches like sandwiches and bagels. With that in mind, my favorite place in Ithaca to get food has got to be Ithaca Bakery, more specifically the one by Purity.”
Frida Jefferis, Distribution Manager, ’28: Tacos CDMX
“My favorite place to grab a quick bite to eat is Tacos CDMX. I love how they cook the cheese directly on the stove so it’s crunchy. Make sure to grab a taco with pineapple!”
Cornelia Ye, Copy Editor, ’27: Indian Creek Farm
“The apple cider doughnuts from Indian Creek Farm are soft, warm, and pair perfectly with your freshly-picked produce.”
Mia Cho, Opinion Editor, ’26: Collegetown Bagels
“Whenever I need a quick bite, drink, place to study, or just to chill, Collegetown Bagels is my go-to! They offer a wide variety of delicious bites for whatever you are craving, from sandwiches, salads, smoothies, desserts, and more! One of my favorite drinks right now is their Guava Green Tea Lemonade, for the perfectly sweet pick-me-up and extra energy boost. I think all their locations are great; I tend to go to the one on College Avenue most often. If you’re unsure of where to grab a quick bite, definitely stop by here and you will be more than satisfied.”
Vivian Jiang, Layout Editor, ’26: Kimchi
“My go-to place would probably be Kimchi downtown in the Commons. The restaurant is pretty small but it has a nice atmosphere and I personally really like the variety of food they have to offer!”
Lily Wang, Features Editor, ’26: Ithaca Bakery
“My go-to place to stop by after a long day at school is probably Ithaca Bakery. Everything on the menu is great, but please go and order the Big Sur on a Spicy Italian bagel, I promise it’s worth it!”
Where is the diversity? Where are Black, Native American, Latino and Middle Eastern student Tattler participants? For many years there were very few students of color on the Tattler staff and those who were on staff were too often relegated to the backpage puzzles and comics. Hopefully, the IHS Tattler has progressed but there still appears to be a need for diversity when it comes to Black, Native American, Latino and Middle Eastern students when participating in these types of interviews and articles. We are living under a presidential administration that is focused on taking away from the people who have the most crucial stake in Americas success: Black Americans, Native Americans, Latino Americans and Middle Eastern Americans. Our stake in America’s success lies heavily in the work that our ancestors did to build, create and shape the culture, physical spaces and wealth of this counntry. We see this president telling lies to enforce a cruel and sadistic monopoly of trageedies that he blames on the people who worked the hardest to ensure white generational wealth across this country. The Ithaca High School Tattler and the Ithaca High School community has an opportunity and responsibility to encourage and support students of all racialzed backgrounds to be a part of the opinions and writings of the Tattler. That will be no simple task but it is doable. Raise the expectations for students who often feel and are locked out of the educational status quo. Invite all students to participate, even if their writing skills are not the standard. Their voices can be heard and with the help of a love of reading, writing and collective work, they can grow into their ancestors greatest dreams while supporting a country led by a president who himself shows signs of educational deficits. As an IHS staffer and reader of the IHS Tattler, I’d like to see it diversified with other ideas, commentaries and suggestions to and for the diversified student population here at IHS.
