“And I looked as he opened the seventh seal, and lo there was a great earthquake, and the sun became a sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood…” – Revelation 6:12
“Imagine a time, when it all began, in the dying days of a war, a weapon that would settle the score…” –Rush, “Manhattan Project”
4:00: I’ve just arrived now. I’m visiting outside of Socorro County, in the desert, to view a test of a new weapon. They won’t tell me anything.
5:15: I, and about fifteen others, have been grouped together and put into a small bunker. Everyone keeps talking about something called the Manhattan Project. Not sure what that is. Remember to look into that later.
5:20: They’ve handed us goggles to cover our eyes. Why would we need goggles? It has to be something that generates a massive amount of heat. I’m no physicist, but I can tell whatever was happening here was powerful. People outside are bustling around preparing for the test. What is this?
5:25: They’ve just launched a flare to signal five minutes till the test begins. People are getting jittery in the bunker. I am too.
5:28: They warned us to put on our goggles.
5:29: The test officially began. About twenty seconds went by. Hah, I thought to myself. All this talk for nothing. Then something went off. Light exploded in front of my eyes, like the Final Judgement. A deafening roar exploded around my ears. A huge fireball erupted in front of us. In front of us? No! They said the test was happening twenty-seven miles away! Was it really that huge? It lasted for about a minute, before all that was left was a mushroom-like cloud left in suspended animation in the sky. Some around me laughed. Some cried. I only sat there in silence, contemplating what I just saw. This wasn’t just another weapon. This was something more.
5:30: For the only time in history, the world changed in a single minute.
