on ground that’s sworn to hold me
in all its ancient permanence
fear gripped me
in stillness I stood
or the earth would split
swallow all I had built
let yourself stumble
and discover
the earth did not open
create and create
destroy and turn over
the vestige
until your grip has bore away its edges
until what once felt permanent
becomes something pliable
comparison is the thief of happiness
no ruin
in becoming unfamiliar
with yourself
open yourself up to the unknown
and unfamiliar
only growth returns
the chasm that has opened
is within you
to lose yourself
you find the ends of the earth
and all its infinite possibilities
swell to fill your hollowed chest
you are all you love and more
