After the riveting season five of Teacher’s Island, we finally have our winners, the pair who have been named the Teachers of the Island. This season claims to be “the most dramatic yet,” supposedly surpassing season four, the most dramatic yet, and the season before that, which was also named the most dramatic yet. But before we get to revealing our winners, let’s take a look back at this season.
In the first episode of Teacher’s Island 2023, our host Dr. Brown introduced us to the eight wonderful teachers participating. They paired up throughout the season to create what would hopefully be the strongest contenders in the race for Teachers of the Island. Out of the eight teachers we met at the beginning, only five stuck with us to the end.
Mr. Kelly, Ms. Hardesty, Madame Bowman, Mr. Sheldon, and Ms. Amici have been staples in the “Classroom,” the stunning new villa our teachers reside in. However, it didn’t end up just being them on our island. They were joined by this season’s later entrances, the bombshells. Mr. Prokosch, Ms. Maddren, Madame Clark, Ms. Marolia, and Mr. Hovey entered the Classroom and made their marks, lasting all the way to the final five pairs.
Our teachers paired up with each other, each trying to make the strongest duo that would hopefully last all the way to the finale and win the title of “Teachers of the Island.” Ms. Marolia, an English teacher, and Mr. Prokosch, a history teacher, paired up in week three, after both coming in as bombshells. Fans immediately loved their teaching styles and fun personalities, making them strong contenders. However, in the last “dumping” before the finale, it was up to the five pairs left to make the decision on which pair would be going home before the public vote in the live finale. Unfortunately for Ms. Marolia and Mr. Prokosch, the other four pairs voted them out, and the fan favorites were dumped from Teacher’s Island.
Our second pair was Madame Bowman and Madame Clark, who bonded over their shared love of French. While the two had different teaching styles, their enthusiasm, and dedication made them fan-favorites. Unfortunately, Madame Clark decided to leave the Classroom after receiving an invitation from a new French reality TV show called Êtes-vous l’Américain? As Madame Bowman was left without a partner so close to the finale, she unfortunately had to leave the island, leaving fans outraged.
So, our finale consisted of three final pairs. Mr. Hovey and Ms. Hardesty are both administrators, who shared a love of catching kids vaping in the bathrooms and directing traffic in the high school parking lot. Mr. Sheldon and Mr. Kelly are both social studies teachers who bonded over trying to ignite passion in their students about Otto von Bismarck. Our third pair was Ms. Maddren, a gym teacher, and Ms. Amici, an administrator. They quickly became beloved by viewers with the energy they brought to the Classroom.
But finally, the season had to come to an end. In the finale, we saw the final vote from the public on who they believed were the best teachers on Teacher’s Island. When Dr. Brown announced Mr. Kelly and Mr. Sheldon in 3rd place, and Ms. Amici and Ms. Maddren in 2nd place, no one was more shocked than viewers attending the live finale. As chants demanding a recount erupted around Teacher’s Island, Ms. Hardesty and Mr. Hovey accepted the 50K cash prize. Ms. Hardesty pledged that the money would go to installing vape detectors in the bathrooms at IHS.
Despite claims of fraud and corruption amongst the host and producers at Teacher’s Island, Ms. Hardesty and Mr. Hovey have remained the winners of season five. When approached by reporters for comments, other finalists shared their opinions on the situation. Mr. Kelly wished he could have used the 50K for a whirlwind trip to visit historical sites from the Schmalkaldic Wars. Ms. Amici and Ms. Maddren both “felt robbed” and Ms. Maddren shared that she would’ve spent the prize money on expanding her shoe collection.
