Ahead of their senior night game against Saratoga, I interviewed Mason Gabriel ’26 and Ansel Cosgrove ’26 on their season and hopes for the night.
Kate Thomas ’26: Alright, so you guys have senior night tonight.
Mason Gabriel: We do.
KT: Are you feeling excited, or do you have any predictions for the game?
MG: I predict we’re gonna win.
Ansel Cosgrove: Yeah, I think we’re gonna win.
KT: Any score predictions? Just win?
MG: 5-3.
AG: 6-2.
KT: Tough battle or clean sweep?
MG: It’ll be tough.
KT: Okay, and your team has a lot of seniors this year, right?
MG: We do, we have fifteen in total.
KT: And you’ve been playing together for a while? How do you think that’s impacted your season?
MG: Since we were little.
AC: We’re definitely very close and have a good bond throughout the team, even with our younger teammates.
MG: I would also say we’re more motivated to win it this year, because it’s our last time.
KT: So, are we making it to States?
MG: Absolutely.
AC: Yeah.
KT: And then you just beat West Genesee this past Tuesday, which hadn’t happened in a while.
MG: Eleven years, to be exact.
KT: What was different?
MG: They weren’t as good.
AC: I think we played their system really well. We practiced a lot leading up to the game.
The team beat Saratoga 5-2, with Cosgrove scoring his first of two goals early in the first period.
