Recently, a rivalry was sparked between two members of the 2022-2023 editorial board: Frances Klemm ’23, Editor-in-Chief, and Alice Burke ’23, Opinion Editor, on whose dog is superior. Both pets seem to have already captured the hearts of their respective owners and sparked countless debates, resulting in no consensus. As a result, we embark on a quest to determine the ultimate four-legged companion—who is the most qualified to emerge as top dog? First, let’s meet our candidates and get to know more about them.
Meet Tilly, Frances’s best friend
1. A tiny guardian to keep you safe!
Although small in size and an adorable appearance, Tilly will alert you to the potential dangers coming your way. She is dedicated to your safety, being equipped with the necessary awareness to detect danger. With a well-timed bark, Tilly can serve as an exceptional safeguard. Picture a fierce dog ready to help navigate your life’s obstacles with confidence!
2. A tail-wagging friend to greet you at the door!
Nobody is more excited for you to return from your trip to the garage than Tilly. No matter how short or long your absence is, she will greet you with a happy smile, wagging tail, and enough energy to immediately jump into your arms. She really makes an occasion out of everything—knowing the perfect way to relieve your fatigue after an exhausting day at school.
Meet Gus, Alice’s best friend
1. Your dependable companion wherever you go!
Gus is a very active canine, and is always willing to join you for a long hike downtown. He’d love to accompany you on your journey to a healthier lifestyle, encouraging fitness and outdoor exploration! The next time you go on a walk, Gus’s unwavering loyalty will stay with you throughout the trek!
2. The extroverted best friend you never knew you needed!
Every time Gus stands in front of the camera, he makes sure you can capture the funniest moments, keeping you entertained and engaged. He enjoys meeting anyone new, whether it be other animals or humans! Gus’s ability to become acquainted with you makes him a social butterfly and great friend!
