The IHS Drama Department is over the moon to present its spring musical, 9 to 5: The Musical by Patricia Resnick! 9 to 5 includes the classic Dolly Parton hit song “9 to 5” as well as dozens of original pop-country tunes made for the stage adaptation. With humor, ’70s charm, and a whole lot of heart, 9 to 5 is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for high schoolers and their families alike.
The IHS production of 9 to 5 is directed by Gabriella da Silva Carr, with choreography created by Meghan Omohondro, costume design by Elizabeth Kitney, and technical support by Steve Brookhouse. The pit director of the show is Jonathan Aldave, and the accompanist is Ben Coddington. Katy Holloway ’26, Quill Corbett ’26, and Madeline Tindall ’27 make up the stage management team, and former IHS Drama member Mars Beirle ’25 is the show’s production assistant.
Rehearsals kicked off in mid-January, and the small but mighty cast has been working diligently to bring the show to life. The cast is comprised of students from all grade levels and all experience levels—some students are veteran performers, while for others, 9 to 5 is their first musical. From solo music rehearsals to full-cast dance sessions, each day has encouraged every member of the cast to bring strong vocals and energy. “I love being in something fun with my friends,” said cast member Essence Lockett ’28, highlighting the joy and community of rehearsals.
