As the final leaves fall to the ground, the first snowflakes fall, and the cold wind hits your face. You know winter is here. One thing people get excited about each winter is the holiday season. Whether it’s Christmas, Hanukkah or any other holiday, you have to be excited about it. A major aspect of the holiday season is the gift giving process. Every year, it can be a struggle to find gifts for friends and family. Gift giving is a difficult and stressful process, so here are some suggestions on gifts for this season!
General:
Books: A simple but fun option, especially if the gift receiver loves to read! I personally think that books are always a great gift because some books may have a special holiday edition! Gifting a book can also help reduce screen time, if you think your friends have a screen problem.
Candles: Another classic option, you can never go wrong with a festive candle. They help rooms smell better and are so aesthetically pleasing! Bonus points if you know the receiver’s favorite scent.
Accessories: Pick out some fun jewelry like bracelets or necklaces to give. They’ll add a little pop to outfits!
Stuffed Animals/Plushies: Any type of stuffy would be such a nice gift! It’s like giving someone a nice little friend to be able to always comfort them.
Blind Boxes: Such a fun and cute gift to give, especially to those who love surprises. You could get one that’s TV show themed or pick any type of character your friends and family would like.
Clothes: This is a very broad category, but who doesn’t want more clothes? Pick out some cozy clothing items like fluffy socks, cozy sweatshirts, or some holiday pants. Just make sure you know their size.
Blanket/Flag of a Character: I think this would be a really funny and great gift to get someone if you know their favorite celebrity or character!
Favorite Food or Drink: You could get someone a lot of food that they like or a bunch of drinks. That could never go wrong, everyone loves food.
Art Supplies: Is one of your friends or family members creative? Get them a few packs of crayons, markers, or pencils and a notebook, and you’re all set. Or if they love to crochet and knit, get them a nice yarn.
Bags: Shoulder bags, purses, handbags, totebags, any kind of bag! It doesn’t have to be luxury, it could just have a favorite character on it or be their favorite color. Bags are very useful and nice to have around.
Toys: You could get your crafty friend a Lego set (these are always very fun to build), stress balls, or little mini crafting kits! Anything that’s hands-on would be a great gift, you could even do it together!
Beauty: Side note for this category, be careful to make sure your friends don’t think that you think they smell bad. This is just to give them that spa experience!
Body scrubs: Body scrubs make your skin smooth, they smell good, and they’re pretty affordable. I think that’s a win-win-win and would make a great gift for anyone.
Lip products: It’s winter, so many peoples lips get chapped because of the cold dry weather. You could get someone a tube of Aquaphor or even a cute chapstick that has their favorite scent or flavor.
Lotions/Moisturizers: Again, the cold makes skin very dry, so lotion could be great for that person you know who is always out in the cold. You can pick out a scent you know the receiver will like, helping them smell good and have soft skin!
Body mists: Instead of perfumes, body mists are cheaper and come in a bunch of scents! Stop by Bath and Body Works and find a fun addition for your friends’ routines.
DIY Gifts: There are so many different crafts you can make for the holiday season if you want to go the handmade route. There are so many options for DIY gifts, just think about the receiver’s favorites, like their favorite color or pattern, and see what comes to mind! Here’s a list to get you started:
Paper Stars: A bunch of paper stars that unravel to a sweet message inside could be the perfect way to show your appreciation to someone. Bonus: these are pretty easy to make and you can pick out some pretty colored paper.
Pipe cleaner flowers, or even paper flowers: A few tutorials on YouTube can show how to make either pipe cleaner flowers or paper flowers. All you need is paper or pipe cleaners, glue, scissors, and some patience.
Crochet: Make your loved ones a plushy, scarf, coaster! I’m sure they’ll love something that you took the time to make
Card: Just a creative card that has a thoughtful letter written on it could be a great gift for someone. You can even mail this to someone that lives far away!
In the end, gift giving is never about how much you spent, it’s the amount of thought put in. These gift ideas are just ideas to help when you are stuck. Just remember what the people in your life like and go off from there. I hope these gift ideas are a great starting point and help reduce the struggle of brainstorming.
