Camp
You can do this either at a formal site or in your backyard. Take the chance to enjoy nature and explore! Then cozy in with snacks and card games over a fire.
Drive-in Movies
There’s a fantastic spot in Elmira! It’s the perfect middle ground of a private, individual experience and a big screen.
Swimming
Ithaca is blessed with a great deal of gorges and swimming holes. Get out there and explore! Take a dip at the popular places like East Shore or Second Dam, or take a hike and find something niche.
Picnic
What better way to enjoy natural beauty than with a horde of food? This could be an addition to any swimming trips or its own adventure to enjoy the florals at the Cornell Botanic Gardens or the views at Sunset Park.
Berry Picking
This is the perfect activity because you take home not just the delightful experience but a collection of sweet fruit. Take pictures, snag a million before you pay, and consider bringing home your own bouquet of flowers, too!
Grassroots!! or Other Concerts
I genuinely look forward to this all year. Concert season is my favorite season. It’s the best time to explore something new or see an all-time favorite.
Sun Dye a T-Shirt
With more free time, try out some fun crafts! Sun printing is fun because you get the prize of a cool new piece.
Learn New Card Games
I (like a lot of the IHS population) have played more card games this year than ever before. Prep for next year by expanding your repertoire. Bringing a deck with you is a great way to build community. You never know when you’ll have the spare time to break out a game and forge new connections.
Make a Collage or Moodboard
This is a great way to visualize how you want your summer to go. Collage is one of my favorite mediums, as I enjoy the hunt for pieces to include. Try new art forms this summer! Look ahead and make a fresh start for the new academic year.
Try New Recipes
Take advantage of the New York Times subscription beyond just the Wordle. There’s no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen. Invite your friends, and make a night out of it.
Start a Vlog
Be sure to document all your fun activities this summer and look back on it later!
