A message has been sent out by the ICSD Board of Education (BoE) about new school policies being implemented at IHS. Most students are against these policies, but they have no say in them. These policies will start to be applied next quarter. Students have to abide by these rules and will get a penalty if they break them. The BoE guarantees that these rules will have a positive change in our school. The list of new policies has not been announced yet, but here is reportedly what administrators think the new policies should be.
A new rule that will be implemented is the Pencil Ban. This new rule bans all pens and pencils, forcing students to carve their essays onto their desks with scissors. This will also force students into using markers, colored pencils, and more. Chromebooks will be utilized more than ever before, as this rule will lead to all teachers finding programs that run their new digital class.
Another rule that will be implemented is the One Period Day. Instead of seven classes, school would consist of one single, seven-hour-long math period to ensure maximum focus. Your first period class will take a whole day, then the next day will be second, and then third, and so on. Some like it and some hate it. One student named John stated “I like my seven hour study hall and my seven hour lunch!” when asked about this hypothetical policy.
The “No Backpack” policy will also be implemented because students don’t actually need backpacks, so they should just carry everything in their arms all day. This policy has happened after administrators have found out that most kids hide their phones in their backpacks. They also said this would help students use the CyberPouches more.
