Typically, people get very excited when they get their first car. They’re so happy to be free and go anywhere they want quickly and conveniently, whether it be the grocery store, school, work, or hanging out with friends. However, cars are dangerous. As someone who hasn’t started driving yet, I have found it very hard to be behind the wheel. One centimeter off on a turn? You could lead your car into the curb. Plus, you never know who’s on the road, and you could get rear-ended at any time, causing a complex system of paperwork and insurance stuff. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, just four years ago there were an estimated 5,930,496 police-reported traffic crashes, with about 42,517 people dying. That’s about 16,248 accidents and 116 car accident-related deaths a day. Additionally, cars can get complex with insurance, paperwork, and anything else in between. That’s not a good rabbit hole to go down, and luckily there is a good solution.
Instead, we must use electric tricycles. As weird as that sounds, it could also be a great solution. They go very fast, have less impacts on the environment, and are much cheaper and less complex than cars. They won’t require paperwork to get to, and they are extremely affordable. What’s not to lose?
Electric tricycles can definitely limit crashes, as simply bumping into someone is not going to send them tumbling to wherever so often. What if it rains, you ask? Well, we can attach an umbrella to the bike to keep you covered as you ride, or just soak in the rain. That wouldn’t be so bad once in a while, right?
Electric tricycles are so much easier because it’s easier to get a license for them. You’ve been riding tricycles since five, four, maybe even three years old. They’re stable on the ground, so they’re easy to ride for all ages. If electric tricycles replaced cars, every student in the district, going as far as possible elementary school, could get an e-trike license. This gives a sense of independence for people to go anywhere at any time, at any age. Adding on, there’s less complications and paperwork to buy an electric tricycle than a car. To buy a car, you have to show up at a certain place, bargain, sign paperwork, and that may take a while. For an electric tricycle? Just buy it on Amazon, confirm your license, and you’re good to go.
Also, electric tricycles are so much cheaper. A normal car could set you back around thirty- to even fifty-thousand dollars, while electric tricycles don’t even cost an eighth of that. Electric tricycles are still a little expensive, but they only cost around two-thousand. They have great performance as well, and you don’t have to go through any complex steps to get one, showing that even when someone is frugal, they can just take an electric tricycle and go wherever they want.
Adding on, electric tricycles are so much easier to fix. If something goes wrong with one’s car, the person would have to watch YouTube tutorials because the process is so complex. They have to get complicated car tools, like motor oil, WD-40, whatever the person needs, and that could get very expensive. However, if something’s wrong with an electric tricycle, there aren’t many tools you need. This makes them much easier and cheaper to repair, so there is no need to learn more complex tutorials on how to fix them.
Electric tricycles also can go at a decent speed. Some electric tricycles can peak around thirty to forty miles an hour, which demonstrates they are safe and can go at good speeds, so you can be in a hurry and still be safe. Also, technology is getting better every day, so it wouldn’t take a while for electric tricycles to even go the average speed of a car. If AI is developing every day, why can’t machines like E-trikes get an upgrade?
Finally, as suggested by the name, electric tricycles use electricity, which means they don’t go around spreading greenhouse gases and thus are more sustainable in terms of the environment. Yes, electric cars do exist, but they cost lots of money to the point that very few can afford them. Electric tricycles cost much less, and no matter how much you buy them for, they’re always electric. You can be safer, go at decent speeds, and still keep the planet’s health well. Sounds like a double win to me, so why can’t people use electric tricycles? Electric tricycles are very underrated, and they should be one of the replacements to replace cars in the long run. They are safer, cheaper, more convenient, and less complicated.
Now, electric tricycles are good, but they are only meant for short transport. Electric tricycles don’t go as fast as cars, at least for now. For the time being, what do we do to go on long trips, like across the country or the Canadian border? As someone who regularly goes to Toronto, I thought about a solution, which is to replace highways with train tracks, better express metro systems, and extra motels if people still want to take their electric tricycles on a long ride. Yes, it could be expensive to build a bunch of railroad tracks across countries, but it would be rewarded with less casualties from these forms of transport.
In the end, electric tricycles are the best alternative to a very dangerous way of transportation. Cars are basically daredevil tools, yet they’re so common due to their conventionality. On the other hand, however, is a safer way of transport: electric tricycles. They are just like cars themselves to the point where they are the same as them, but are much safer. They can go at decent speeds, are less complicated, and easy to get, many characteristics that cars are not. Cars are overrated. Let’s think the other way and imagine a society where you can get places quickly and conveniently and way much safer. With electric tricycles, life would be much more simple and secure.
