It all began at 7:32 AM one morning before school. I was packing my lunch when, at that moment, I saw a juicy mango out of the corner of my eye. It caught my attention, and I instantly started to reach towards it. The thought of a sweet, plump mango in my mouth was all I could think about, so I started to slice and dice. I took a bite of my mango, and I fell into a momentary coma from its unimaginable flavors. That pleasant surprise made me flip my frown upside down.
Something else that flips my frown upside down is sharing with my friends and those around me. At 12:21 PM that day, my friend James Daugherity ’28 had an exquisite piece of valuable loot, a green mint Clif Bar, and he wanted some of my mango. Knowing the worth of both amazing foods, it seemed like a fair transaction. At the end of the transaction, I was thrilled, not because I just received a green mint Clif Bar, but because of the joy and smile on his face. I then began devouring the bar, crumbs splattering everywhere.
Tiny little things like swapping food with a friend brighten up a classroom and the high school experience. I encourage you to buy a ripe and plump mango even though they might not be in season, because it could make your day just a little better. Every single day, some little thing might be the special spark that brightens your day. So whoever this might be read by, just know there is something special today for you.
